Jack A. Raisner, JD

Professor, Law

Professor Raisner's area of concentration is employment law. Raisner writes and speaks extensively about all types of discrimination, sexual harassment, privacy, whistleblowing, pensions, fair labor standards (wage-and-hour), mediation, labor union member rights, and other employment-related issues. He has served as chairman of the Employment Law Committee of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business and as academic co-chair of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section's Drug and Alcohol in the Workplace Subcommittee. He is author of Pregnancy Discrimination and Parental Leave Handbook (Panel/Aspen 2000), and co-authored West's New York Employment Complaints and Answers, and has contributed chapters to several leading treatises, including International Labor and Employment Law (BNA), Wrongful Termination (BNA), Contemporary Issues in Labor and Employment Law (Little, Brown and Co.), Employee Rights Litigation: Pleading and Practice and Skills (Matthew, Bender and Co.), Disability Discrimination in the Workplace (Clark Boardman Callaghan), New York Employment Law (Matthew Bender and Co.), New York Employment Law Practice Guide (West Publishing Co.), and New York Practice and Skills (West Publishing Co). For five years, he produced a daily radio feature for the Business Radio Network matters titled “The Law at Work.” He has commented on workplace issues for Fox Television News, Inc. magazine, HR Magazine, and other business publications. His articles have appeared in Quinnipiac Law Review, Employment and Labor Law Quarterly, The Practical Litigator, and New York Law Journal, among other journals and publications. In addition to teaching and writing, Raisner represents individual employees in employment disputes and serves as a legal consultant on personnel issues to several organizations. He recently litigated to a successful conclusion a suit that vindicated the rights of free speech and democracy for members of a major labor union, which received national attention.
